101 in 1,001

I’ve been intrigued by this for a while. The idea is that you create 101 goals for yourself and complete them in 1,001 days. As of March 15, 2008, I have my goals and am starting to work on them. Does someone want to tell me when I should have these finished? According to Melanie, my deadline is December 11, 2010.
  1. Move into a membership position with an association
  2. Buy a home with at least two bedrooms so that we can have overnight guests
  3. Refinance existing home so that we can keep it as a rental property
  4. Take a trip to Seattle to visit husband’s family
  5. Build up cash reserve of 3x our monthly income
  6. Pay off credit cards (and keep them clear) by end of 2008 (5/8/08)
  7. Delete my facebook account
  8. Take a spinning class at the gym
  9. Get down to 142 lbs
  10. Knit Hanami
  11. Knit and finish two pair of adult socks (frozen toes socks done; one to go)
  12. Knit Clapotis using Keegan Lane’s Denali
  13. Learn how to play WoW
  14. Delete my MySpace account (3/22/08)
  15. Clean off the top of my dresser and keep it clean for three weeks
  16. Go to the gym at least 20 times in 30 consecutive days
  17. Make these brownies
  18. Wake up (and stay awake) by 7:00 AM on four consecutive weekends
  19. Repaint bathroom ceiling
  20. Explore painting kitchen cabinet fronts
  21. Learn how to spin on a drop spindle (5/4/08)
  22. Make this chili
  23. Change kitchen cabinet hardware
  24. Volunteer ~6 hrs/month for 4 months with a non-profit I am passionate about
  25. Try going shampoo free for four weeks
  26. Take a weekend trip by myself to a place within driving distance (leave Saturday AM and come back Sunday PM)
  27. Visit the Corcoran Gallery of Art
  28. Take an intro to burlesque class
  29. Use this on our bathroom floor
  30. Reward myself with a couple of pedicures
  31. Take a belly dance class
  32. Reduce my magazine subscriptions to three per month
  33. See all of the 2008 best pictures nominees
  34. Watch all of the Godfather movies
  35. Learn how to smock
  36. Take a cardio boxing class at the gym
  37. Go on a bourbon tour of Kentucky
  38. Try this recipe
  39. Eat a meat-free diet for two weeks
  40. Make my own hair gel when I run out of the brand name #6 product I use
  41. Finish recovering folding chairs
  42. Make this fried chicken
  43. Go vegan for one week
  44. Attend three services at the UU church on Route 50
  45. Reduce anti-depressant dosages (and hopefully eliminate one of my two prescriptions) (summer 2008)
  46. Research and buy stock in two companies in which I believe in their mission
  47. Make this No-Knead bread twice
  48. Donate $5 to charity for each item on this list that I do not complete
  49. Install programmable thermostats in our house
  50. Run a 5K (5/4/08)
  51. Make this granola once
  52. Run a 10K
  53. Learn How to Crochet
  54. Knit something wonderful and warm for my mom (clapotis for amy, finished September 2008)
  55. Make our own pizza
  56. Run the Army Ten Miler
  57. Start knitting this shawl
  58. Add this exercise routine and complete it once a week for 8 consecutive weeks
  59. Try each of these recipes once (Beef Burgundy 3/30/08, Chicken Stew 3/30/08, (Like) Lasagna, Corn Stuffed Pork Chops, Bratwursts, Sauerkraut, and Potatoes)
  60. Walk up to the local coffee shop for my morning coffee twice
  61. Have three money free weekends
  62. See this movie
  63. Make my own hairspray when I finish the two bottles I have now (5/2/08)
  64. Go coffee free for 4 weeks
  65. Go soda free for 8 weeks
  66. Go alcohol free for 12 weeks
  67. Attend three services at the UMC up the road
  68. Drive to Georgia twice and purchase carbon offsets for both trips
  69. Write in my paper journal at least 3 times a week for four weeks
  70. Meditate once a day for a week
  71. Go camping with the boys
  72. Try krav magra
  73. Get a flu shot every year
  74. Paint my bedroom a lighter color
  75. Give extra house keys to a few friends so I don’t lock myself out
  76. Learn to sew
  77. Go tubing
  78. Have friends over for brunch
  79. Read C.S. Lewis’s book Mere Christianity
  80. Improve my German language skills
  81. Reward myself with three massages
  82. Purchase a lifetime membership to the UGA Alumni Association
  83. Go to Athens for one home football game
  84. Go to one away UGA football game
  85. Read Atlas Shrugged
  86. Try a Birkram yoga class
  87. Go hiking at Great Falls (8/16/2008)
  88. Follow the one-in, one-out rule with my shoe purchases
  89. Come up with a creative use for my wedding dress
  90. Ask husband for a book recommendation, read the book, and then discuss it with him afterward
  91. Spend some more time at the gun range
  92. Embrace an experience driven life
  93. Walk (farther) away from a consumption driven life
  94. Read Ishmael again
  95. Tell five people how much they really mean to me
  96. Start attending training classes again with Jake (can’t do anymore. i miss Jake)
  97. Stock my kitchen with the staples
  98. Actively try to get budget in line with this
  99. Darn a pair of homemade socks if they need it
  100. Get rid of the clothes I don’t wear. Less stuff = less stress
  101. Put a 24-hour moratorium on purchasing anything over $50 dollars

  2. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. And, instead of making 101 goals for myself, I’m just going to critique yours!

    Haha, just kidding. Actually, I can help you with a few of these… How about we knock out #50, #52, and #56 this year? We could pick a local 5K in May/June, a 10-K in July or August, and then the 10-Miler on October 5th! As an added bonus, this would probably take care of #9 and #16 (and maybe #18), too!

    Then, I could come over for brunch (#78), and watch the Godfather (#34), after which you could tell me how awesome I am (#95).

    Man…I am so kicking ass on these goals!! (I’m totally serious about the races, though…let me know).
