Life on My Own Terms

Portions for Foxes

Tuesday, April 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Guess what we saw this morning while out on a walk? (I’ll give you several hints: mammal, hunting for them is banned in the U.K.)

If you guessed a fox, you would be right. You can only imagine the ruckus the boys make over foxes (especially since all we could see were the glassy eyes and a faint outline). As both were straining on the leash, I made the split second decision to let go of Lucky’s leash since I can’t hold both dogs at the same time.

He took off. Jake started yelping. Within a few minutes, the fox had found a safe place to hide and Lucky started looking for me. We walked over to him and he immediately went to ground. Please know that we do not strike our dogs – this is just something Lucky does when he knows he’s done something he’s not supposed to do. I loved on him a bit and we continued on our walk. Meanwhile, Jake spent the rest of the walk on high alert while straining at the leash.

(apologies to Rilo Kiley – coudn’t resist using the song name as the title for this post)
