My ability to procrastinate is well developed. In college, I waited until three days before a twelve page English paper was due before I wrote my first draft. I pack on the morning of major trips because I do not want to spend time planning my outfits the night before. I have figured out exactly how long it takes me to get ready for work so that I can sleep as late as possible and still catch the bus—mind you this includes walking the dogs and eating breakfast (almost) every morning at home too.
It shouldn’t be a big surprise to you, dear reader, that I’ve not been training for the 10K. It’s on August 11 and I now have just about 40 days to get up to 6.2 miles. I tried to go running last night, but my calves were cramping so badly that I walked (the lesson learned here is that I need to stop wearing flip-flops). I performed my various crunches last night and stretched and massaged my calves when I returned home.

I had already been planning on doing something healthy every day, but yesterday’s pitiful outing only confirmed that this is long overdue. I’ll be saying “Auf Wiedersehen” to the bar and “Grüss Dich!” to the gym. “Tschuss” to fried food and lots of red meat and “Hallo” to fish and veggies.
I’ll be creating another page for the blog to track my healthy changes. I’m trying to be optimistic.
