Life on My Own Terms

Monday Mash-Up

It is that kind of day. Hold on to your hat…

Need to come up with 1,000 logical words about why I want to go to graduate school that does not contain any of the following phrases:
1. because my coworkers are idiots
2. because I don’t want to answer someone’s phone for the rest of my career
3. because husband isn’t ready for kids

Am trying out a new recipe for dinner tonight. I hope it comes out well since I have the stuff in the freezer for at least three more meals,

Inauguration is next week. 16th Street NW was shut down this morning and traffic was hellacious in front of my building. Car horns were going off regularly until after 10:00 AM. I bet it is only going to get worse…

I am ready to pull a dumpster up to our front door and start pitching stuff in. That being said, I cannot be bothered to put down the cookbooks or knitting to take out the recycling. Our house is too small for me to keep doing that. Have to make some changes.

It is cold outside. COLD COLD COLD COLD. Why do I think skirt suits are great and wear them three or four days a week during the winter! I am a nutcase. The woman on the elevator with me this morning said boots would be a good idea. I concur, but have you seen my calves? Moreover, I am a cheapskate.

The Star for brunch sounds like a great idea. The food is great and atmosphere is wonderful. In practice, the dining room is too small for the noise. It is hard to hear people—especially when you have a table of nine.

Dinner at Agraria this week with my aunt and hubby. Looking forward to it. I would not be surprised if their menu contains most of the stuff I have in my fridge/pantry right now. Winter squash, leeks, cabbage, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, and the like.

Stash busting of 2009 is in full swing. I am saving my scraps for a scarf that is knit in the round with a steek for fringe. Very excited, but want to get a few more things done before I start on it. Husband’s hat [RAV link] need some work since I realized I messed up on my 1×1 ribbing three rows prior to where I am now. I am not frogging it at this point. Need to find the crochet hook.

In the five days I have been back at work in 2009, I have taken my lunch every day. I am going to see how long I can keep this streak alive save for the days I am meeting someone for lunch.

My boss has already left early two days since we have been back at work. Awesome.

Need to find out if parents are coming up for my birthday. It is a nice tradition we have started, but I wish it were not so cold this time of year.

Husband and I want to go to Marvin for our anniversary. Too bad Open Table will not let me make a reservation this far in advance. The reminder is hanging out in my calendar.
