Hubs and I went to a concert last night at DAR Constitution Hall. We went with some new friends of ours and the opening band we saw was not as good as we had hoped and the main show was meh.
One thing interesting was that I enjoyed watching the people around us more than I actually enjoyed the show. There’s probably several reasons for this including our lack of familiarity with the band’s oeuvre. Instead of really being into their set, I felt like I was doing anthropology field work. Many years ago, concerts were almost a religious experience. For the most part now I prefer to not fight the crowds to hear a band that sounds great on their albums, but disappoints live. Maybe I’m just getting old.
We’re going to another concert tonight. I’m much more hopeful that the show will be better and we’ll enjoy it more. Different crowd. Different venue.
