I did it. I finally made the no-knead bread I mention in my 101 goals. It is yummy, but husband thinks it is a little salty. My bread is a bit denser than the loaves described in the NY Times article, but I believe our cooler than normal house is the culprit. That being said, it was easy and I’ll likely try again in a week or two. I have lots of flour and yeast to use up.
Regarding Dutch ovens, I asked a few friends if they had one and they didn’t. I was trying to not add to the mess that is my kitchen and futher complicate my lack of storage. I broke down yesterday and bought a 5 quart cast iron Dutch oven. While the recipe calls for a 6 quart, I’m sure I’ll be well served by the one I got.
Off to figure out what else I can make using the new (really heavy) Dutch oven…
Oh. And for the record, I’m roasting another chicken. No pics of this one in the raw state, but I do plan to photograph the finished chook. I didn’t fancy it up this time with veg. It went into the pan solo, albeit stuffed with sweet onion and seasoned with ground sage, salt, & pepper.

It’s official. We’re sick. Husband’s doctor visit was beneficial. He has a sinus infection and was in the early stages of ear infection too. Massive antibiotics for him…
This morning, he sounds so much better, but says he still feels like crap.

We arrived home yesterday to an almost empty fridge. Husband felt the worst he’s felt all week and my throat was starting to hurt. Frozen pizza for dinner and lots of hot tea for us.
We awoke this morning and readied to leave the house. A quick stop at Dunkin’ prior to picking up Lucky. We arrived home and I started thinking about what we were going to eat this week. I decided a quick veg soup was needed. A little chop chop and now I’m back in bed with L-dog. Good day.
The throat still hurts, but husband is feeling the best he’s felt for three days. We’ll see how this goes…
