It’s official. It’s winter here in DC. While we’ll have slightly warmer weather this weekend, we’ve enjoyed highs in the high 30s most of this week and even had some (very light) snow in the region day. I’ve pretty much abandoned all attempts at looking polished for my commute to/from work (not that I worked really hard at it anyway). My main objective these days is to stay warm.
We finally turned our heat on the other day. Due to the odd way in which our heat works, we wait as long as possible every year. It was 59 degrees Fahrenheit when husband flipped the switch. Certainly a touch warmer than the 55 degrees it got to last year during the whole hot water heater debacle. Any who…
Knitting-wise, I’ve made lots of progress on the Noni bag that’s been around for about 18 months now. I have 8 rows left on the bag body and then get to felt it. I need to decide if I’m going to knit the flowers to go with it or if I’m going to stitch the front of an old t-shirt to it. Decisions decisions.
Husband had fun in Georgia last weekend playing rugby. He tweaked his knee, but didn’t sustain a lingering injury. He had fun and got to visit with his family and our adorable niece and nephew.
While looking at my calendar today I realized that I only have twelve and a half days of work left between now and the end of the year. Awesome.
Life is good. Mom was in town visiting this weekend while husband was in Georgia playing rugby. We weren’t tourists as planned. Instead we went shopping on Saturday and yesterday hung around the house since Mom was hit by a cold.
In all, a quiet, relaxing weekend. I’m thankful for my wonderful family and fantastic life.

I’ve been in Atlanta this weekend (and by Atlanta, I mean my parents’ house in the ‘burbs and my extended family’s homes in the exurbs). My grandmother’s 79th birthday was yesterday and we had a family lunch on Saturday. Yesterday I watched my 4.5 year old nephew play soccer and played with my 2.5 year old niece. Both are adorable!!
I’m headed back home today and am going to trivia with the girls tonight. I’ll have to write a separate post about the different team names we’ve had. Hysterical.
Next weekend, we’re headed to Rhinebeck. More details to come…
