An Exercise in Futility….

Life is good. Mom was in town visiting this weekend while husband was in Georgia playing rugby. We weren’t tourists as planned. Instead we went shopping on Saturday and yesterday hung around the house since Mom was hit by a cold.

In all, a quiet, relaxing weekend. I’m thankful for my wonderful family and fantastic life.

I feel old.

We met up with some of husband’s coworkers for drinks after they had dinner downtown last night. We arrived at the bar around 8:30 PM (look at us staying out late on a school night) and promptly ordered mojitos. While not the best tasting mojitos we’ve ever had, there was a great bit of liquor in them. I finished mine pretty quickly and another showed up in it’s place – one that I did not order. I wasn’t going to turn it down though. A shot was soon put in my hand and our friends showed up right after that. We went upstairs as the birthday girl’s ex was starting to DJ.

The tunes got cranked up. I had another drink and we laughed and danced for a couple of hours. Husband and I finally headed home and crawled into bed. Sleep came quickly and I felt like I had been hit by a truck when husband woke me up after his shower. Thank goodness it wasn’t my day to walk Lucky. I had two cups of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese, onion, and lox before I started to feel normal.

Tonight we’re going to the bar. I’m looking forward to it and also looking forward to our plans for tomorrow night. We’re going to stay home. A little Daily Show watching. Some True Blood. Frozen pizza perhaps? A touch of bourbon. Knitting or spinning for me and WoW or PS3 for husband.

We’re such nerds.
