An Exercise in Futility….

Upon walking the dogs when I got home from work, I ducked down one of the side streets of the main “road” in my neighborhood. The boys were up to their shoulders in the bushes - but in opposite directions. Lucky was right next to the main road and Jake faced in the opposite direction. Lucky suddenly barked his “look, unexpected people!!” bark and Jake darted over to him. Thank goodness for J’s harness because he would have freaked out the people that were walking by and were the cause of L’s concern. I quickly backed up a few steps to give the folks some clearance, but a lady turned to walk toward us to say hello to the dogs.

While I was at the concert last night (which rocked btw), my lovely friend Eliza picked up my first CSA delivery from Bull Run Farm. I swung by her house on my way home tonight to pick up my goodies.

Wow. I’m so impressed. Lots of greens, basil, lettuce, and garlic scapes. Plus a half dozen eggs. Can I tell you how much I was looking forward to the scapes?!? Now I really don’t have to go to the grocery store (yet).

My dinner tonight was pasta with a pseudo pesto containing scapes, basil, olive oil, S&P, tofu, and a little water. So yummy, but my body is in shock from the fresh veggies since I’ve pretty much lived off of food from restaurants and cafes since late April.

I washed the greens and am looking forward to a salad for dinner tomorrow and scrambled eggs for b’fast. One of my eggs is blue. So cool.

(Eliza sent me this pic which I rec’d while sitting in traffic. It was such a tease)
My 1st CSA Shipment - thanks Eliza!
After dinner, I planted daffodil bulbs from the spring thingie I bought many months ago. They had already bloomed in the house, but I wanted to see if I could transplant them. I also planted a couple of day lillies - color TBD. While walking the dogs this morning, I noticed this random, uprooted bunch of day lily fronds hanging out next to the side walk. I picked it up and brought it home. We’ll see if all of it lives.

Around 8 PM, I settled in for the evening. On came the tee-vee and the dogs finally settled down. I bound off my completed frozen toes sock only to discover that there is a reason the EZ sewn bind-off is recommended for its stretchiness. D’oh. I also cast on for socks for my MIL. She bought the yarn at the LYS when she was here in April solely for me to make her socks. This will be my first experience with two soxs on two circs. Wish me luck.

On the job front, I’m finally ready to talk about the baby steps posting from May (?). My last day with the trade association is on June 20. While it was a good place for the time being, I was presented with an opportunity with a labor union that I cannot pass up. The bennies are excellent (surprisingly, even better than the previous job at the investment firm) and I start on June 23. I’ll be spending the weekend making sure all of my suits and heels are ready to go since I haven’t had to wear them for many months now, but will put them back in rotation for the new job.

Have a wonderful weekend. Don’t get arrested.

It’s 6:52 AM. I’ve been outside (twice) with the boys this morning (in the rain). Jake and I walked around for a half hour (in the pouring rain) last night so he could take care of his business. As I sit here and finish my coffee so that I can hop the in the shower, Jake starts staring as me. I watch his tail quiver. He makes a small noise as me. I ignore him. He eventually realizes that I’m not going to cater to his every whim this morning. He jumps up on the bed and lays down. Such a good boy. While all of this has been going on, Lucky’s been laying next to me hoping that I’ll rub his belly. He’s such a good dog too.

Here is a short video I took with my cell phone yesterday. The quality isn’t great and I haven’t figured out how to rotate the video yet, but enjoy.
